Game Design Challenge 3: Modifiable Play Space

Your next challenge, due Monday, February 13, is to design a board game with a modifiable play space.

Instead of using a game board that stays the same from start to finish (like Chess, Backgammon, or Monopoly), you must instead create a playing field that either constantly evolves or is constructed as the game progresses. The structure of the field you start with won’t stay the same as it did when the game begins.

You might want to think about themes as well and how they correspond with your game. We’ve seen themes with Rivers, Roads, and Rails, which is similar to Dominoes, as well as aMAZEing Labyrinth, which uses the metaphor of a shifting maze. We also looked at Adventure, which should give you some interesting ideas.

Note: This is not a game modification. Your theme and mechanics should be original.
